Welcome to KYKLOS 4.0

Updated: Feb 6, 2023

In January we started a new project POET4POEM related to the Circular Manufacturing ecosystem. It is realized with and co-financed by KYKLOS 4.0. Our consortium is built by 3 SMEs: MASTA responsible for IT solution and two fabricators acting as the solution validators: MCH Polska - a producer of metal assembling tools and MJ Polymers - a manufacturer of plastic molding products.

The acronym POET4POEM stands from Product-Oriented Energy and Resources Tracking for Production Optimization and Equipment Maintenance. It addresses two main challenges of the circularity in high-mix, low-volume manufacturing – optimization of the energy consumption in individual production steps as well as tracking and reusing the generated scrap. Embracing such a circular approach will help the manufacturing companies in reducing the environmental footprint of their operation while also offering economic benefits.

In our project we will integrate 4 of the existing services of KYKLOS 4.0 with the existing MASTA solution – a Software-as-a-Service platform offering digitalization of manufacturing management – production planning, scheduling, tracking and quality assurance. We will also develop prototypes of pluggable energy consumption sensors for legacy machines and new software components enhancing the MASTA platform.

The resulting system will offer a number of circularity-driven services, including:

– Insights into energy and resources consumption and rate of scrap generation from different perspectives –

poduct-, production-step-, energy-, resources- and scrap-centric one. This will involve both analysis of historic data as well as real time dashboards.

– Support in planning and scheduling facilitating energy savings and use of the available scrap.

– Energy, resources and quality anomaly detection for predictive maintenance of machines.

The system will be deployed and validated with two manufacturing SMEs, MJ Polymers and MCHPolska, representing different industrial domains. Both companies hope to significantly reduce their energy consumption and use of virgin materials, while increasing the reuse of scrap.

Upon successful validation of the system, we will offer the newly developed components via the KYKLOS4.0 store, which will facilitate the market uptake across Europe.

The POET4POEM has indirectly received funding from the European Union’s Horizon 2020 research and innovation action programme, via the KYKLOS 4.0 Open Call #2 issued and executed under the KYKLOS 4.0 project (Grant Agreement no. 872570).
